My story ...

Bro. Kerry G. Johnson (#7) of the Genesis 12 at Kappa Chapter.
A reintroduction
Greetings! I'm Bro. Kerry G. Johnson, and I couldn't be more excited to announce my candidacy for Kappa Phi Lambda Chapter President! I was born and raised in the lively music city of Nashville, TN. I've been actively engaged in the "Divine 9" community since my swiftly passed college days, and I'm passionate about making a real difference in people's lives.
At the Kappa Chapter at The Ohio State University, I developed my communication and leadership skills while cultivating my love for graphic design and brand communications. With a professional background in multimedia communications and content creation, I've proudly served as the chapter's associate editor for The Sphinx magazine, our fraternity's national membership publication.
Storytelling
communicator
I am passionate about creating meaningful content, whether through words, visuals, or a combination of both. I aim to help people understand complex topics and make them more accessible. With my journalism and community activism background, I have a unique combination of skills that has allowed me to excel in my current role as a multimedia content creator at Johns Hopkins University.
With my background in visual storytelling, publication design, branding, and community communication, I want to help our chapter build a stronger internal culture, a more dynamic public presence, and a clearer voice throughout Columbia and Howard County. My goal is to lead with collaboration, consistency, innovation, and purpose.
I am excited to continue to use my communications skills to help people understand the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. - Kappa Phi Lambda Chapter brand and reputation throughout Howard County.

Creative leadership takes different forms
In addition to my leadership positions with the Kappa Lambda Chapter, I am an accomplished creative artist and arts educator with more than 20 years of experience in graphic communications. I am passionate about harnessing the power of creativity to inspire individuals, and I am committed to supporting our brothers and students in Howard County as they strive to achieve their fullest potential.

The importance of leading a family
I'm a devoted and driven leader committed to advancing African American families and youth within the Howard County Public School System, where my adult children have graduated.
As a husband and father, I know the importance of leading a family in the right direction. Of course, we have had challenges; however, we're still a family at the end of the day. My mission is to help families gain a deeper understanding of themselves, the importance of our African American culture, and the steps to build solid and mentally-healthy relationships in Howard County's African American community.
Just like the Kappa Phi Lambda Chapter, we may disagree on some topics, but in the end, we will still be a family (PHIamily).
